Position Summary
The Diesel Mechanic is responsible for maintaining and repairing ready-mix concrete trucks and heavy-duty equipment to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient operation. This role includes diagnosing mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical issues, performing preventative maintenance, and supporting DOT compliance standards.
Key Responsibilities
Inspect, diagnose, maintain, and repair diesel-powered ready-mix trucks and heavy equipment
Repair and service concrete mixer drums, drum drives, hydraulic pumps, motors, and chutes
Perform preventative maintenance including:
Oil changes
Lubrication
Filter replacements
Brake adjustments
Air conditioning service
Use computerized diagnostic tools to troubleshoot engines, transmissions, drivetrains, and electrical systems
Repair hydraulic hoses, cylinders, lighting systems, and charging components
Operate welding and cutting equipment to repair truck frames and bodies
Complete maintenance logs, repair orders, and safety documentation accurately
Maintain compliance with DOT regulations, safety policies, and environmental standards
Keep work areas clean, organized, and safe
Required Qualifications
3+ years of experience as a heavy-duty diesel mechanic
Strong knowledge of:
Diesel engines
Hydraulic systems
Electrical systems
Ability to diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical issues efficiently
Valid driver s license required
CDL or the ability to obtain CDL preferred
Ability to lift heavy equipment and work in physically demanding environments
Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills
Preferred Experience
Ready-mix concrete truck maintenance
Construction equipment repair
Welding and fabrication experience
DOT inspection and compliance knowledge
Preventative maintenance programs
